Why Iceland
Iceland is a land sculpted by forces ancient and ongoing — steaming lava fields, thundering waterfalls, and glaciers that spill into iridescent lagoons. In late March, the nights grow long enough to reveal one of nature's most breathtaking phenomena: the aurora borealis dancing above volcanic peaks.
The Northern Lights Explained
The aurora borealis is produced by collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun entering Earth's atmosphere. Streaks of light appear in white, pink, purple, and — most famously — vivid green. The optimal viewing window in Iceland runs from late September through mid-April, when nights are longest and skies darkest. Your tour includes multiple dedicated viewing nights to maximise your chances of witnessing this extraordinary display.
